Okay which of ya idiots 'round here was tapping into the Azure Flames? That stuff's not meant for any sorcerer or whatever ta go mucking 'round in. 's real dangerous stuff fer literally e'ryone who ain't me. People've tried and probably blown themselves up while I was takin' my nearly dying nap. I'm 'ere ta make sure ya city ain't on fire and maybe help put down whatever idiot's tryin' ta tap inta it.

It's late morning. The sun is shining, and there is a man on foot in Domino, cursing 'damned brats' and 'I left my bike in an intentionally safe place with boring people'. He's maybe investigating screams somewhere, that sound like a man being thrown through the sky. Or maybe he's just lost. The city got bigger and weirder since the last time he was here.

Cyril stops and looks around.

"... this ain't supposed ta beach, is it? I know Gren can make stuff weird, but a whole city...? Maybe I got shit direction."

He pauses. And notices the woman on the sandcastle. How unimpressed she is. Another...? Seems vaguely familiar somehow... Probably nothing.

"'ey there. I was wonderin' if ya could give me some directions?"

*she probably is. but she's high up enough and the sun is too shining for you to tell exactly, other than she has a mixture of. Vibes?

She leans over, almost lazily, face cupped in her hands.*

Where are you trying to get to?

He squints up at you.

"Flamvell Bar an' Grill. Barrin' that, OOPARTS?"

Oh. I recognize exactly one of those places. That's where Soran goes and hangs out sometimes since his sister co-owns the place...

*she gestures her hand as a sand arrow forms from th-- the ground? not even the sand, but the ground itself, as it points in a direction*

I know the place is over in that direction, but I'd need a map to make some solid instructions...

Okay the vibe is right.

"I got a map somewhere on me..." He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a carefully folded (slightly singed at the edges) paper map. Oh no.

A boomer.

*that works. She climbs down-- she's wearing a t-shirt and shorts with sandals, but you can tell she has a swimsuit on underneath by the straps. standard summer fare. very normal.

She also looks like she's been out in the sun a little too long though and just hasn't really cared much about that fact. Takes the map and looks over it, muttering something and pulling out a phone to compare some things.*

He blinks a few times.

"Are ya... okay, kid? Ya look like ya might need ta take a break from the sun an' 'eat. Maybe drink water? Ya look like ya might still need ta drink water."

I'm just trying to see how long I can last like this, that's all. I'll have water soon. *waving a hand a bit, as some of the sand keeps the map propped up along with the phone, as she goes to a nearby bag and pulls out a notepad and a pen, writing some things down.

... the handwriting is kinda messy thanks in part due to the heat exhaustion. She already realizes this, grumbling, before finally pulling out a bottled water as well and downing half of it.*

Dangit. I need a better gauge.

"...alright kid, I know yer prolly like, sand or ground themed or somethin' but sometimes sun beats sand if that sand is also still a young lady. We should get ya into somethin' cooler than jus' bakin' yerself outside, 'cause ya clearly havin' trouble gauging where yer body should be at. Ya got any shade?"

The Samasu madness is strong in this one.

I mean, I could make shade. But that only lasts as long as I'm focused, and I have a whole glorious castle to tend to at all that.

*she could just stop tending to the castle, but it's clear she's a bit nuts.*

Cyril tries to not let his expression show anything besides 'gentle disapproval.

"Ya could... jus'... 'ave an umbrella an' hang out under it while havin' yer castle maintained?"

*she makes a low "ugggggh" sound, like she doesn't want to bother looking for it, but she goes digging through the bag that is definitely not big enough to carry an umbrella, unless it's one of those collapsible ones--

No that is definitely a full-sized beach umbrella she just produced from it after a few minutes of searching.*

"... Yeah. That should work."

He's curious about what else is in the bag that made it take so long to find, but best to not rile her up.

"Sometimes ya gotta take a break an' take care o' yerself."

I know this is going to sound really crazy.

*she sets up the umbrella so it casts plenty of shade*

But I've had enough of "taking care of myself" for the rest of my life. Sometimes I want to do something incredibly risky and see how far I can go.

"Ya can't be a queen of the land if ya don't take some breaks."

He plops next to you, still in the sun.

"There's limits ta e'rythin' unfortunately. An' pushin' 'em is good, fuck 'em. But sometimes a break's super necessary. I know the feelin' of havin' ta sit idle fer ta long an' tryin' ta do e'rythin' in yer power ta make it so yer not doin' that anymore."

I'm not queen. Yet. *sitting down under the umbrella. the water and the shade are helping, annoyingly. She goes back to rewriting the proper directions.*

And I want to know what that "limit" really is, these days. I haven't really had a good chance to press at those limits, before.

Plus I'd like to do it before something stupid like "the earth gets constantly covered by clouds because the sun is too bright" happens.

"Yeah, well. I think this is a good gauge of goin' over them an' doin' some 'arm ta ya. Maybe set a timer up and gauge if ya need water like, e'ry fifteen minutes?"

He gestures upwards.

"That'd... yeah, that'd be Gren or Noriko's fix, wouldn't it?"

It would be, yes, and I know it's going to ramp up in possibility as it gets hotter and hotter.

Last thing I need is anyone deciding the sun needs to be shut off, anyway.

"...yeah, that'd be real dumb. So I give it a year.

If it 'appens, come find me kid. I can prolly make it hot again fer ya."

I'll keep that in mind, but I know the personification of the Sun, so it might be easier to just bother him about that...

Huh. That's weird. It's almost like this kid is sun obsessed and is seeing how long she could bake in the sun's presence? ... no that's stupid. She's just a little off.

"Yeah, sun and heat/fire are two way different things on the metaphysics. Oh, jeez, sorry. I was so busy frettin' over a kid doin' somethin' dangerous I forgot what lil' manners I got. Cyril, but I also got titles an' shit, if that's yer jam."

My memory is full of holes and I'm pretty sure I'm figuring out why with revelations like this.

"Well, I guess I'm glad ta 'elp out one of Gren's kids. She probably wouldn't like ya pushin' yerself this 'ard, so like... If she catches wind of this we can kiss the sun goodbye fer a week at least while we try an' convince 'er otherwise."
